Assumptions
The project was experimental and research in nature. Its aim was to test the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in creating atmospheric, photographic night and evening shots of Polish urban architecture. The aim was to check whether AI can capture the unique atmosphere and characteristic features of Polish cities, such as historic tenement houses, modern skyscrapers, atmospheric streets and illuminated squares. The project also aimed to assess whether AI can be used to create promotional and artistic materials presenting the beauty of Polish architecture in an unusual way. An important aspect was also to examine how AI copes with rendering specific night and evening lighting.
Technology & Approach
Advanced AI tools were used to generate images based on text descriptions and photographic references, including models based on neural networks and diffusion. Various parameters were experimented with, such as architectural style, time of day (night, dusk, dawn), type of lighting (warm, cold, colorful), composition, perspective and weather. Detailed descriptions were entered, e.g. "historic tenement house in Krakow illuminated by warm lantern light", "modern office building in Warsaw at night with reflections in the glass facade", "market square in Wroclaw at dusk with a crowd of people". The generated images were then assessed for realism, fidelity of detail, conveying atmosphere and compliance with the assumptions. It was also analyzed whether AI can capture characteristic elements of Polish architecture, such as architectural details, ornaments and urban layouts. The project results provided valuable information on the potential of AI in creating architectural visualizations and promoting culture.
